Pulilan, Bulacan – The Municipal Government of Pulilan held a meeting and orientation-seminar in order to intensify the Anti-Littering Campaign that aims to promote cleanliness and orderliness in the whole town, Wednesday, October 23.
The event focused on the re-implementation of Anti-Littering Ordinance that prohibits littering, dumping, and throwing of garbage or any kind of waste in public places.
Moreover, it requires public and private establishments to provide a pair of trashcan for biodegradable and non-biodegradable garbage, and to maintain cleanliness of their frontages and immediate surroundings.
In addition, trashcans should be provided in private and public vehicles, and its terminal.
“We have to intensify the apprehension of those who violates the Anti-Littering Ordinance to keep the cleanliness and orderliness of our town, Pulilan,” Mr. Vic Esguerra, Municipal Administrator said.
As an initial action, a work-force composed of Philippine National Police (PNP) of Pulilan and Municipal Volunteer workers were assigned around the vicinity of Pulilan Public Market to inform, remind, and prohibit the people to litter, spit, smoke and urinate in public places, starting October 24, Thursday.
“Every one of us must be very vigilant on reminding people not to throw garbage or even a piece of waste, such as candy wrappers and cigarette filters in private and public places,” he added.
Whoever caught littering, spitting, smoking, and urinating in public places will be apprehended for an orientation about the Anti-Littering Ordinance.
After a month of “apprehend and orient scheme,” violators will be issued with corresponding fines ranging from P500-P2000 and detention of 10-30days or more.
Among the important concerns raised on the said meeting were issuances of huge tarpaulins with striking designs for information dissemination purposes, positioning of urinal cubicles in places where people often urinate, and apprehension activities of the designated work-force.
The meeting and orientation-seminar was attended by PNP-Pulilan, Municipal Volunteer workers, Jeepney and Tricycle Operator and Drivers’ Association officials, and Pulilan Public Market Officers. (PAIO, SJA Flores)
