DILG to LGUs: Stop imposing pass through taxes on goods

Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse M. Robredo today reiterated his order for all provincial governors, city and municipal mayors and punong barangays to stop imposing and collecting fees and taxes on goods passing through their respective localities. Robredo issued the order amid report that some local government units are still imposing the pass through fees despite previous directives enjoining them to discontinue the imposition and collection of such fees and taxes. ASEAN Launches Handbook on Human Trafficking

Robredo today called on local chief executives in the National Capital Region (NCR) to assist stranded commuters by providing them rides in going home amid the bus strike staged by bus operators this morning. Robredo directed Undersecretary for Local Government Austere Panadero to immediately coordinate with local governments of Metro Manila as a remedial measure to lessen the adverse effects caused by the strike on the people.
